salt about fediverse community
(I'll be blunt, I feel little sense of community on the fediverse. oh it's there, but it's only if you fit a certain profile. being SERIOUS about anything is social death. but I ain't good at cute shitposts)
(this will be another question that I will have to ask three or four times before getting even one answer)
feels to me like most sewing stuff out there is either about making tiny low-effort changes or making stuff from scratch, but most of what i do is kind of in the middle - really involved resize work or like, making something new out of an old garment by more or less tearing it apart
@melaninpony what's Ripcord
so what IS the least horrifying way to get an #Android app running? the official SDL is a complete nightmare and I don't wanna touch it
Unity, maybe?
salt about fossbro culture
@USBloveDog @kara_dreamer@plural.cafe we're only going by what we find when we search for answers to questions and see what comes up on forums, we aren't masochistic enough to participate in Linux forums directly
and it's both
Windows file sharing remains unusable. I still can't connect to my Android phone in a way that lets me see its file system; the most I can do is manually send files from my phone to my computer. connecting to the household printer seems as unattainable as walking to the Moon
why am I doing this to myself
salt about fossbro culture
@USBloveDog @kara_dreamer@plural.cafe you're not wrong
like, the whole free software culture is obsessed with niceness and civility, but let's face it, the only way to get 'em to do ANYTHING is to make 'em upset
although I think there's an art to that, that we've yet to master. the key to getting honest answers out of fossbros is to make them angry in a way that prompts 'em to whip their e-dicks out and flaunt their superior knowledge

Reminder:
Strikes and protests are inconvenient and loud and costly and a bit of an imposition on the rest of us
This is on purpose
It's *supposed* to be this way
If you are inconvenienced, it's working
Support the workers anyway
@oreolek ah so it does have to be done through WINE. bleh, was kinda hoping it wasn't. it must run really badly?
(needless to say trying to online search for info on this just yields a mess. the default result for searching for "how do I do X on Linux" is always a mess. usually you get links to unanswered forum questions)
Kara (and the rest of us) hardly ever get answers to technical questions on the fediverse without asking multiple times and I dunno if that's the fediverse to blame or if it's because it's _us_ asking
I'd complain about how if I'd asked this on Twitter I'd have gotten some kinda answer by now but, nah, nobody on Twitter would have bothered
so, asking again
does *anyone* know first hand about getting #ffxiv to run on Linux? is it a WINE thing? is there a client?
gab, a racist plattform and the fediverse
#gab, a social network that is some sort of recruiting plattform for racists and alike seems to plan joining the #fediverse.
see:

We do not want you here!
We will not federate with you!
You will continue to remain an isolated plattform aslong you remain a racist piece of shit.
#antifa
@packbat *nods* I'd be happier with a handbuilt thing but, heck, we're nowhere near being able to do that yet, I gotta be realistic
and even a bad spectrophotometer puts a bunch of easy analytical techniques in reach
uh how do you get #FFXIV running on Linux anyway? this is theoretically possible yeah?
