ideas on how to generate a 4-color palette ?

· 3 · · 1

preferably as random as possible while still maintaining a semblance of pleasantness

@maple how about two random colors, and each of those colors compliments?

@venatus this is a good idea if i ever write a program to do it

for now i need a more prebuilt approach

@maple get a random colour, convert to HSL, rotate it around x degrees a few times to get the colour scheme model you want

@maple @noelle there's also this :o coolors.co/ though Ellie's link is really great too! Some great palettes on there!

@maple

maybe

- pick a starting color at medium brightness
- pick a light source color and blend with starting color at high brightness to make a highlight
- pick a background color and blend with starting color at low brightness to make a shadow
- add either the light source color or the background color at medium brightness as the fourth color?

idk
