@squirrel agreed 100%. more along the lines of livejournal's old "friends only" which was about who you followed, not who followed you
okay I was disappointed for about 5 seconds, but I'm trying really hard to find reasons not to leave my bed
last time I went outside I saw a cat, but it ran away instead of getting to know me, which is always okay of course, but still a rejection that I had to deal with emotionally
hmmm now I'm tired
do I really want to go outside
I mean what are the benefits
there are people there
I think I'll just stay in my bed
Just groomed this hairball and had enough hair to make another kitty #Caturday https://soc.ialis.me/media/0JtWdLccxMob2san0GQ
status: some of them look like windows 98 and i don't like those, but i want all the others because they look friendly and cute
@Jules this cat is not asleep (sadly), but also not very tooty *waves at jules*
And Goldenhand is not too disappointing so far? I might not love it as much as Lirael (which is clearly the best), but I definitely like it a lot. And, mighty charter, it is so whumpy, this is not subtle, I am slightly embarassed by all the whump for whump's sake (but I'm not complaining).
4. that they never stop calling the refugees "southerlings", that sounds kind of slur-ish doesn't it?
5. the way Sabriel's and Touchstone's relationship is portrayed in Lirael, omfg I hate Touchstone there
6. that there are so many love stories
7. that there is one Abhorsen who is headconend as aromantic a lot, because not very love story-y, but yeah you know what happens
3. that Lirael isn't depressed anymore as soon as she knows that she has some kind of mission – one the one hand I love that because, you know, the way society interacts with mental health, but on the other hand, things being caused by social expectations doesn't mean that they go away as soon as you find out that you can be considered worthy by the standards of that society after all.
Because I'm usually so excited about the Abhorsen series, here are things that I don't like about it
1. the whole "it's in your blood" thing, come on, this is a magical world, you can do better
2. that (ok i haven't finished Goldenhand but so far) is no mention of any queer relationship, even though the Clayr who live in the ice and see the future are almost exclusively women, and there is mention of them hooking up with men who visit the glacier
