a story set in harlem in the 1920s, but a harlem that has no black people in it, is just... it's bizarre. it's creepy. i don't understand why you would choose that setting and then leave out the interesting bit.

@breakfastgolem to be fair, i think this is one of the qualities of particularly online communities that i think human society is still having hiccups accepting.
you could get far more philosophical and say that nothing ever exists in the same state for long periods of time due to the very nature of time, of course, but i feel like online there is that same process, sped up immensely, and without any physical objects to keep ourselves grounded with. so, it's a bit of a head trip
