@shel at least Tennant had some acting chops to make up for it, then Smith gave us the twee without the depth
so, @kel, one time my lab partner leaned over to me and asked me, Al, you got any sodium hypobromite? You know what I had to tell him? "Na, BrO"
@brennen wow, uh...emacs Mastodon! that's...something!
so #mastodon #programming question...what's the most painless way to start working on bots? I've been wanting to poke at some ideas for making robot pals around here, but the unfamiliarity barrier is kinda intimidating. Anyone abstracted away all the nasty stuff into a package I can use with a programming language I actually like, like C#? (Lisp or Rust would be even better but I'm not asking for miracles)
@noelle @Momentrabbit @Ulfra_Wolfe @kel I've seen a lot of cute furry couples I love but the cutest pairing I've seen was wolf/ram.
(getting real nerdy here)
@Momentrabbit @Ulfra_Wolfe @kel Y'all argon-na love the puns around here
@Alyx @Momentrabbit @kel Not mine, so I should hold my tungsten.
@Momentrabbit @kel @Ulfra_Wolfe heh *tailswishes* the periodic table's been my playground for, gosh, thirty human years
@kel @Momentrabbit @Ulfra_Wolfe if you can't helium and you can't curium then you'll have to barium
@Momentrabbit @Ulfra_Wolfe when the chemist died and the undertaker took the body away, what did the undertaker do? Barium.
@Ulfra_Wolfe that just seems really cool to me. kinda wish I'd had that chance, when I was younger and had so much easier a time reading big blocks of stuff :/ sort of hoping that it gets easier after I start HRT and my mind's working a bit better.
@Ulfra_Wolfe I mean, I _did_ get into some of that stuff, but she was trying to get me to read Thomas Mann when I was like twelve, and you can imagine how well that worked out
@Ulfra_Wolfe I know <3 just like my new hero that I know about thanks to @kel, and that's Dr. Alphys! (link: https://darkmagic-sweetheart.deviantart.com/art/Dr-Alphys-NERD-617913593) https://computerfairi.es/media/KWuny8yX4Doikc9HKzQ
@Ulfra_Wolfe oh, no, it was more that my mom thought games were stupid. she only wanted me getting into stuff that was grownup and respectable
we're gonna be doing a more or less modernistic setting with a dash of urban fantasy, and I created a young science / engineering whiz kid who's been in trouble with the law and ran away from home. Named her Julia Grignard. (yes I named her after the organic chemist. I name all my OCs after organic chemists.)
@Ulfra_Wolfe I think maybe a notch would be better?
So, @Ulfra_Wolfe and her friends have been giving me my FIRST EVER introduction to role-playing games, and walked me through creating a character! Folks have been kinda surprised in the past that I've never done anything like DnD or even played any computer RPGs, even though I grew up right around when DnD was a big deal. I just...well, wasn't really allowed to have that sort of friend *eardroops* So it's exciting finally to get a chance.
