bleh I'd need some spare stuff to get it set up most easily. I'll have to get that some other time

Does anyone know a good forum based art community since conceptart.org and crimsondagger became literal ghost towns? I hate social media with a passion because it's very impersonal and people use it just to promote themselves instead of helping each other.
I miss the old Internet.
Also, goodbye to YTMND.

eh...suppose I could set myself the task of figuring out how to self-host...I've got this shitty little Dell box that I've been meaning to do something with

Show thread

tell me about Plume, folks...I'm assuming that trying to figure out how to self-host it will be like pushing my muzzle into a desk fan

there are "instances" already existing right?

eh, there's other things that can be done

maybe looking into ActivityPub blogging shit. Kara has been maybe sloppy in using Mastodon basically like a blog. all those massive threads of hirs, who reads that shit

Show thread

multiple monitor handling must still be reported as "woeful"

Show thread

Kara despises Linux and there's good reasons, but if you wanna hack away at a crappy little program there's nothing better. it _shouldn't_ be more tricky on Windows but it always is

Show thread

gotta be honest, so far Xubuntu's been pretty boring, which is good

it'd be nice if I could see Windows file shares. like, at all

if a cat tends to seek out warmer parts of the room to sit in, does that count as a form of convection

coulometric analysis is a really cool idea. one I haven't tried yet

the idea is that instead of adding some kind of titrating reagent as a prepared solution and then measuring the volume needed (that's why it's called "volumetric analysis", you're getting a volume measurement as your data point)--

🦄 "datum"

who the fuck uses that word, Mona?! anyway, instead of adding a _volume_, you generate a titrating reagent electrochemically, using a known quantity of electrical charge

Show thread

wanna start working towards having some general methods of chemical analysis on hand. I have a (bad) buret and a lot of experience with volumetric methods but bleh, I wanna get away from having to do everything by hand. so I think coulometric titrations are the way to go

what is the behavior of a population of cats at thermal equilibrium

I still like deer. They are precious bleat bleats. It's still Kaylin's fault that I like deer.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Leliel

@Alyx Riight? Aisling was rewatching the whole thing recently (she's stopped after episode 19), and just like... Leliel wants to help, he's the first one of their kind to reach out across the divide between Lilim and Adam-folk(?) and what does he do, basically gives shinji a therapy session. Little rough around the edges, but again, first time this has ever happened probably.

sheesh how would _I_ measure Planck's constant? I dunno

maybe measure radiation "pressure"?

home steroid hormone monitoring

this has gotta be achievable. tell you what I'm imagining

you prick your finger like you're doing a blood test for glucose, and you just dab the blood on some machine's sensor pad and you get estimates of estradiol and estrone and testosterone and so forth

or, lower-tech, semiquantitative analysis: you get some kind of color reaction and you compare colors to a chart, like you're using a pee strip

how does that strike people?
