Woke up this morning to yelling outside, and saw police officers and a city worker taking all of a homeless person's belongings and throwing them on a back of a truck, to be destroyed.

I can't even express how disgusted I feel. The person was begging them not to throw his things out, including blankets to stay warm.

Fuck the people running this city.

ME: Unfortunately not yet, are you planning to send people to Epic training for this project?

HR: No, we're really just looking to [poach people from other, larger health systems who have already gotten the training so we don't have to pay for it.]

ME: Ah OK, well I have worked with their teams extensively and I think I could still add quite a lot..

HR: We'll call you

Protip: no organisation that actually values your privacy will have a popup that says β€œwe value your privacy” on their web site.

You: English pronunciation is random and lawless. It is a chaos language no one can make sense of.
Me:

C++ is a good language because the compile times force you to take breaks.

Good morning, insomnia, (-)

Good morning mastodon. Last night was one of those nights where I don't know if I actually slept or not so I could either be to tired to hate myself or hating myself was caused by me being tired.

Goodnight, (-)

Goodnight Mastodon I fucking hate myself and idk if that’s me being tired or another bout of depression aaaaaa

Growing up is realizing that all that time you spent bitching and moaning about cringey things was just teenage angst and an aggressive culture of needing to fit in and you're allowed to do whatever makes you feel better so long as it's not infringing upon anyone else.

I've rediscovered incremental games and I'm loving it.

Send me your favorite incremental games pls.

I wonder what software lies underneath a Coke Freestyle machine.

Moreover, I wonder if I can get my own software on to those machines.

Too bad these aren't available to the public :/

"Software Disenchantment" by Nikita Prokopov tonsky.me/blog/disenchantment/

Somewhat ranty but interesting piece on how "good enough" seems to dominate in the software industry. I can definitely share some of the frustration with how bloated and inefficient everything tends to be.

Game idea: JRPG where the protagonist is the only non-silent character.

Code of conduct

For quite a few years, I was a member of a hackerspace in DC.

In 2012 or 2013, we voted to institute a code of conduct. It passed handily, 2/3 to 1/3.

That last third pitched a fit in the meeting, resigned, threw their keys on the table, and walked out. That was maybe 30 people

The rest of us threw a party after the door slammed.

Difference between being actually supportive and pretend supportive:

My friend @ulvra: "I know you and I don't fit in the working world, so I think of how we could make it work still."

My parents: "We want you to get a job. We don't care if you even like it or it ruins your life forever. Just get a job, because we want the best for you"
