@cigazze i don't know a lot of things.
i'm just honestly trying my best right now. i feel like she's upset over the feeling that there's no reason to work on this despite her working on it, which i can understand, but...
i don't know.
i wish i knew, but i don't.
if i knew i could help, but right now all i can do is try my best.

@squirrel so many people are offering help and i seriously think you need to accept. it's not your fault that mastodon is weird and the underlying protocol is weird and all of this is so weird.
sometimes, people need help, and that's okay.

@squirrel it's not your fault, and sometimes people just switch instances. if you keep going for long enough, you can build up a dedicated userbase. you will find your users, eventually. it's just that it might not be today. hold out, please.

@squirrel and it isn't a problem with this instance. it's a problem with remote instances taking too long to respond and timing you out. it's not your fault.

@squirrel please, please, please. keep trying. it's not just your instance. other people are having this issue. it's just that some people noticed. it's mostly mastodon.social. it's *not* *your* *fault*

@squirrel @kaylee @Elizafox the toots start to reappear if the disappearing user sends a mention to a user on the local instance, iirc

#TipOfTheDay, #mastodon :

Under settings/ preferences you can
☑ Block notifications from non-followers
☑ Block notifications from people you don't follow

And under your profile settings:
☑ Make account private
Requires you to manually approve followers and defaults post privacy to followers-only

This can help deal with harassment (if it gets bad) while you are awaiting help from admins. Cheers /

@theresatagonmyshirt@cybre.space yeah, probably

#kerneing: using unicode control sequences to toot crazy text based art

@theresatagonmyshirt@cybre.space not for an instance you do not own

@theresatagonmyshirt@cybre.space public/sounds/boop.mp3 in the repo

the thing about mastodon and gnu social is that they're both built on completely different coding ideals, down to the fact mastodon uses RoR and gs uses PHP.

god the discord notification sound and the mastodon notification sound are so similar
