the thing about mastodon and gnu social is that they're both built on completely different coding ideals, down to the fact mastodon uses RoR and gs uses PHP.

god the discord notification sound and the mastodon notification sound are so similar

ephermal glitch social is the meme secret society: starting memes where nobody will ever know that it was them

look i can understand registering on multiple instances
systematically going through the instance list and registering your username and a *USERNAME THAT ISNT EVEN YOURS* is weird, though???

subtooting

person: I shall register my username so no-one can take it
mastodon: actually that's not how federation works usernames are per-instance and there are many instan--
person: Ah, then I shall register on every single instance. I'm a genius

@denvit honestly they're not a user they're an idle account that does nothing

mastodon psa

If you have an account named xvilo and an account named realDonaldTrump on your instance, they're a person going around and registering those usernames on every single instance they can find.
I would suggest deleting their account if you're an admin or just reporting them if you're a user as they're not going to use the instance, they're just going to camp their name.

@hoodie you're a cool person and we don't talk that much but i wish we did!

@codl i mean that's pretty suck but like
what could one do to stop them

@Violet federation can be done literally just by following 300 people from your instance
i literally imported a follow list and it just worked

read bio boosted
