This post about Mastodon's failures from @u2764 reads a little weird to me - there are casual mentions of POC, disabled people, other marginalised groups being driven off or discouraged from contributing to Mastodon about the same way as the queer developers that originally started it, but somehow ONLY the queer devs get mourned here? Like they were the most important minority group?

The past few weeks (okay, ever since the schism) I've felt kind of disenchanted by Mastodon and especially its development environment, and I wrote an essay about why that is. It's long, but if you're interested in Mastodon's history or politics you should give it a read.

hey @ techbro fedverse. can you stop making bots that just post shit from an RSS feed or an official twitter account without checking if there isn't already a bot that does that. half of my blocked accounts are different versions of 3 feeds.

Other users used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when Mastodon kept balance between the furries, the commies, the techies, and all the queer people.

But that all changed when the birdsite attacked.
