Awards season is creeping up on us again, and while I’ll probably do an actual eligibility post at some point, it’s worth noting that both my latest novel, THE NOVA INCIDENT, and my newest short story, HOMECOMING, came out in 2022 and are thus eligible for most relevant awards. So if you enjoyed them and happen to feel like nominating, I’d be most obliged.

I’ve boosted lots of info about CWs this week. I’ve also seen CWs weaponized against BIPOC and other marginalized folks, so want to clarify:

White ppl, it’s racist to ask BIPOC to CW racism. Racism CWs are Not For You. (Same goes for other axes of discrimination. If you’re holding the privilege, STFU.)

It’s not ok to harass/confront people about CWs. Just move along. You have tools to curate your feed.

I will boost marginalized voices on this issue. Feel free to unfollow/block me for that. 👋

When I joined Mastodon, everyone was saying “just pick a server (instance) it doesn’t really matter which one.” I saw Universeodon and thought “hey, that sounds cool!” Turns out it’s literally for people who love planets and space! 😂 Oops!!

Reminder (or maybe eye-opener) to Mastodon users:

Direct Messages on Mastodon are NOT encrypted.

What does this mean: The message is in the database un-encrypted. Anyone with access to the database could potentially read the messages.

For mastodon.world, only the admins have database access (@jeroen, @spaceriker and myself).

If you have really sensitive info, don't share it on Mastodon. There are secure messaging apps for that.
