he was a mastodon boy. she was a bluesky girl

OK, might as well. #introduction time again!

I'm eblu! I do #GraphicDesign and/or #GameDev sometimes whenever I'm not procrastinating on it (pretty sure I'm #AuDHD). I also dabble in fun little doodles and music every now and then, though I wouldn't call myself a serious contender in those fields just yet.

I've been using Mastodon on and off since about 2018 but only really got into gear around 2021-2022. It's been a learning experience, and I'm going to be the first to admit that it's got some pretty glaring flaws, but I haven't loved a social network as much as the Fediverse, so I'm happy to be here!

(also—please don't be alarmed by the memes all over my account. these are normal and you'll understand the jokes eventually)

@eblu This is a post about the reply culture on Mastodon. See, there's a problem where nerds get onto posts and pedanticall- gets caned off-stage

I was wondering "how do all these YouTube channels find so much footage of undersea internet cables?" and the answer is "by using footage of 220kV power cables and pretending it's the same"

@fasterthanlime did you know the Furry Fandom is in part responsible for the current global financial situation? Don't believe me? Google furry inflation to find out more.

Maelstrom :blobowo: boosted

“inflation is problematic” really has a different vibe depending on whether that discussion is happening on slack or discord

@TechConnectify This isn't really directly to you, it's to admins reading you and seeing all this.

HEY MASTODON ADMINS, INSTALL FEDIFETCHER IT'S GOOD FOR YOU

blog.thms.uk/2023/03/introduci

It's easy and it works, runs as a cron, fills in the missing replies to posts. I've been running it for a year. You want it.

Maelstrom :blobowo: boosted

Some of you are gonna disagree with me on my interpretation, I bet. And that's OK.

But thanks to the Magic of Federation, you might not see these replies.

And also thanks to the Magic of Federation, even if you want to find these replies you'll have to look through dozens because I have so many followers.

I'm considering it my mission at this point to make these issues more visible. And the "look, one of these" boosts will serve as a content warning.

Peace.

@bugfish03 @reboot Woah this is really funny to look at retroactively. Like, so much shit has happened since then it feels so weird seeing The Post That Started It All.

I think I'm gonna look back on my reply and go "Wow, how stupid I was! How could they not expect to happen?!"... Welp! Let's find out...

@reboot My setup will be as follows: I will have a CAN bus connecting all the things together.

On the bus will be four things:
- the ESP32, which will solely serve as a Bluetooth gateway and data aggregator
- the first Arduino Pro Micro which forms the upper body controller, which handles headlights, brake lever positions, blinker switch, throttle, blinkers and a speed display
- the second Arduino Pro Micro, which serves as the lower body controller, and handles all the relays for the various voltage converters, the rear blinkers, rear and brake light, as well as the ESC and the battery lock.
- the battery, which will have to be enabled via CAN and have its battery state read out.
