For the Mac's 40th I wanted to have some fun by attempting to recreate MacPaint 1.0 in Swift for modern macOS.

Good progress so far. Just finished brush mirroring. Currently working on support for classic Mac fonts. Opening MacPaint docs works (QuickLook too!), plus you can open other image formats in 1-bit. Fullscreen is nifty—a very zen 1-bit painting experience.

Anyway, not sure if there is interest but I do plan to open source once complete. 🙂

Repeating my sagest advice: if your life is a disaster, trying to make up your mind to turn over a new leaf and fix everything at once will NOT work. You’ll get overwhelmed and give up in a matter of days.

Pick ONE thing — “I will remember to brush my teeth”, “I will go to bed by midnight” — and only worry about that until it no longer feels like a total drag you have to force yourself through (usually several weeks). Only then can you address the next crisis down the list.

And each one will get a little easier because there are fewer crises in progress.
