you know what would be nice? if follower notifs were for when people try to follow you, and not when you approve a follower. like, if i approve someone as a follower i don't need a notification to tell me that? i just did it myself? but if someone's trying to follow me a notification could actually provide me with useful information—namely: i have a follower request to look at
@autistikai this has been an open issue since January 2017, but it's unlikely to ever change in the main branch because according to Gargron 'people who have locked profiles (i.e. followers require approval) don't want to be bothered by notifications about new followers' https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/455
