my cousin used to volunteer at an animal shelter, and one of the things they'd do is have you "foster" an animal to get 'em used to living in a house with other pets and whatnot.
well, that was the theory, she wound up adopting a bunch of them
but people would always ask what breed these dogs were, and, you know, these are shelter dogs, so we'd make up names like "Royal Toy Short-Nosed Pinkenblanket" and you could usually get a stranger pretending they'd heard of it.
