don't know if it's just us, or if it's an autism thing, or an anxiety thing, or what, but i'm noticing that we (attempt to) use nonverbal cues in conversation more often when we're in verbal-only conversations

this could be correlated with the fact that non-in-person conversations are generally voluntary ones, but i think part of it is just that if people can't see it we don't have to worry about them judging us for it

@autistikai like, you'll make gestures irl when in a voice call? that's a thing that lots of people do, to the point where linguists have studied the phenomenon
