the real answer is probably something like "you can find out more about a thing if you're willing to destroy it". For example, tearing a page out of a book gives you a bunch of information about the construction, material, technique, and age of the paper and stitches and glue and whatnot, and being willing to burn it does even more

@autistikai Evolutionary pressures means that the Graces that came from or took advantage of the rise of the digital computer outnumber the ones who didn't, hence the whole computer aesthetic. The occasional pre-computer Grace still adopts fire as a symbol, as do those who want something a little different.
Hell, that's the motif I went for before figuring out this whole virus girl thing.
