9/11

When 9/11 happened, I was a senior in high school, I was a ferry ride away from lower Manhattan, could see smoke from the towers burning outside the window, and classmates were crying and freaking out that their parents were dead.

My biggest fear that day was that we were going to war, but fortunately everything turned out ok oh oops no, everything is even worse than I could ever imagined.

9/11

I remember my Civics teacher being worried about the creeping fascism he saw as ol' Rudy got revved up about being crowned mayor for life, and Bush started passing surveillance laws, and white people were beating Muslim folks in the street. We had soldiers stationed in the subway with assault rifles for a long time. To keep us "safe".

9/11

Everything you need to know about this country is that the same people screeching for war and about how awful and scary 9/11 was, were the same shits refusing to pay out money to help survivors of the attacks, and all the residents breathing in the awful air pollution that was there for months.

The same ones saying "Support our troops" cut funding to the VA because so many vets were coming home disabled, instead of outright killed, and they didn't want to pay for it.
