Donating to a charity organization vs that of individual asks
@Bashabez5@radical.town I've been thinking about this a lot since I started a job that pays me a lot more money. I initially donated to orgs every time I got a paycheck, but I've switched to direct giving because I feel it has more of an immediate impact for people.
When I was homeless, I was unable to access groups that claimed to help people like me, because I was so busy trying to go to school and work and live my life. 1/?

@Bashabez5@radical.town So once I had money to give to other people, I started donating to orgs, but I got to thinking about how I had been treated when I needed help, and past experiences my friends or acquaintances had.
Trying to access help from an org can be really difficult, and the people running things at many nonprofits loathe to hire from the communities they're "saving".
So I'd rather just give money to an individual at this point. 2/2
