regarding youtube vs adblock being primarily about tracking, i mostly agree except i pay the subscription (because it frees the kids from ads) and still use ublock origin on firefox and see no significant downgrade.
so i guess they're tolerant of losing some of your tracking as long as you pay up -- at least for now...

Yeah I'm actually doing the same thing of late, most of the time it seems to be fine, but every now and then it acts a bit weird as if they made a change and someone left out the ispaidsub check or whatever they call it in their code. Officially they have said several times they want the ads or paid subscription, so it tracks that should be less picky about it with it.
