@b_cavello
I like this bc I sometimes forget to tag things and then someone replies with a tag but there's no way to update the post after the fact with it.
And sometimes on the birb site ppl will QT with a CW that wouldn't have occurred to me to put on but makes sense
@b_cavello @bluepupboi i kinda agree with this but also frankly CWs confuse me, i mean everything is potentially political and everything is potentially upsetting to someone for reasons i canāt guess so Iām just kinda not trying out of confusion honestly
@tibius @bluepupboi Honestly, I can relate. I think more clarity with filters and community tagging could allow folks to handle some of that based on their unique community needs even if your usual follower list is totally chill with it.
@b_cavello @bluepupboi yeah, i mean i am 100% opposed to upsetting people needlessly, and i also wonder if CWs are the best way to do that
@tibius @bluepupboi Good point!
@b_cavello @bluepupboi there are a few extremely upsetting topics and I think we know what they are and I donāt even need to mention them here, but āpoliticsā that could mean almost anything, itās kind of a useless label if you ask me
@tibius @bluepupboi I hear ya. I don't care for the politics label at all, myself, but I have heard enough people express that it's important to them, and I think there could be a way to let these things exist together.
@b_cavello @bluepupboi if youāre a member of an oppressed class simply posting about the mundane events of your day is considered politics by many, so really I donāt like the idea of a politics CW
@tibius @bluepupboi I agree, but I also think that other marginalized folks can also be triggered by the mundane events of my day, and so if they want to put tags on it for their own sake, that's okay by me.
I don't think I or anyone should be responsible for knowing what might be an issue for every other person, but the hope is that something like this would mean we don't have to.
@b_cavello @bluepupboi right, and i mean if i ever posted about one of the few topics that almost all people seem to agree are very upsetting and may be triggering trauma for some i will use a CW for that but i basically donāt ever post about those things
but if you do post about those things i think you already know what to do
@bluepupboi Yes! I also don't feel like each individual poster needs to be responsible for knowing every possible cw that could apply, but as a community maybe we could do a better job collectively.
