@oceangrunge @boots I don't use the feature, but I personally don't think it's racist. The fact that I don't have any use for toots in a language I can't understand/read does not mean, that I deem people less worthy because they happen to speak the langue in question. 🤔
@oceangrunge @boots I don't really think the feature could fairly be accused of constituting linguistic imperialism.
After all:
1) It is optional, don't like it, don't use it
2) It has no impact on the people who authored the filtered toots: They would not have been read either way
The filter simply saves people from scrolling past toots they can't read anyway.
