here are some of my thought-technologies, which you should adopt:

- referring to anything that is built without obvious screws or glue as being "held together by luck"

- referring to libertarians as "librarians"

- referring to Remy from the movie Ratatouille by the name "Ratatouille"

- referring to SSDs as "SD cards"

- referring to trains as "self-driving cars"

- referring to anything with a closed control-loop, for instance, a thermostat, as "artificial intelligence"

@jk woah [runs to thermostat, leans towards it, looking at it like it just fell from outer space, poking it] how does this work on it's own??? this must be some sorta...artifcial intelogence [stares off into distance]

@jk how does it do what it do [face directly against the thermostat]

@boots the thermostat, silent, stoic, and beyond human comprehension, has no reply to give

@jk [removes face from thermostat, turns around but sees a refrigerator] Woah [runs off]

[source engine metal impact sound]

@boots an aside, but there's a "short, squeaky door opening sound" in HL2 which is one of those endlessly-reused stock sounds, which I hear at least a couple times per month, despite me not watching TV or movies very often

i think the sound may originate in the early-mid 90s maybe?? the last time I heard it was watching the Utena movie the other day, i'll probably hear it again by the end of the week!!

Follow

@jk honestly i've actually heard [source engine metal impact sound] as a stock-sound
it's rarer than that, but like every time i hear it i giggle a little
