Anyone know other voice over/voice actor people to follow here on mastodon? I’d appreciate the help in finding my community here.

@robcottingham yay! Hello! Gosh I should also make a mastodon account with my real name, huh? Happy to connect with you! What performance stuff has you excited right now?

@electricburgers (I just wrapped my most ambitious performance yet, Guy Who Knows How To Drive In Vancouver Snow. 😀)
From a career progress standpoint, I’m focused on commercials and corporate narration right now… but what gets my pulse going fastest is audiobooks, documentary and animation. How about you?

@robcottingham just Guy Who Knows How To Drive sounds wonderfully confident! I’m starting out (again) myself! Tried many years ago and lost heart. Now I’m taking some voice over classes. Got my demo scheduled for Feb so diving into practicing marking up scripts, caring for my voice. Practicing at home and learning how to engineer myself. I think I naturally am good at narration but my heart wants to do animation here and there. How’d you get your first few jobs?

@electricburgers I've had only a little luck (one gig since I joined in January!) on the pay-to-plays, but I'm fortunate to have worked with a communications agency in town, and they hire me from time to time to record scratch tracks for focus testing and client pitches. And I have an agent who regularly sends me auditions; I'm hopeful one of those will finally gel.

@robcottingham yay for having an agent and a place that sends work sometimes!

@robcottingham they're good! so many good tips about marking up copy and using pitch as variety. but demo day is coming up quick in Feb and I'm nervous.

what made you be like... oh, yup, I wanna give acting a shot?
