overpopulation, automation, and job growth slowing down shows that capitalism is losing it's apparent effectiveness - and at some point we will hit the game over state sooner than we thought
jobs -> money won't work if all the jobs are taken by automata - at that point you NEED socialist/communist programs in order for survival to continue
they're not the alternative, they are the inevitable end result - and the more we fight it, the more we contribute to our own end

this is why, fundamentally capitalism is flawed: it's highly dependent on a temporary factor that it itself is phasing out by accident
socialism is dependent on humanity - which considering it's a system for humanity, ON humanity, leads it to being independent
capitalism is dependent on NECESSARY WORK - which with progress can end up disappearing, as is happening now with the disappearance of jobs

that's why the current approach is to start parallel-shifting to socialism - we need to adapt to it, and we have no other options
the last time we crashed into a new system, capitalism was born - and while it (dubiously) might have kickstarted innovation, it's starting to wear thin and make clearer its moral repugnance
it took us some time, because capitalism employs fundamental game theory, and competition is something we as a species are addicted to

the problem can be TL;DR'd further using the prisoner's dilemma:
Ally / Ally: +2/+2
Ally / Betray: +5/-2
Betray / Betray: 0/0
capitalism emphasizes maximizing individual benefit, as a result - it's optimal strategy is calculating the best times to Betray to get the Max points
socialism emphasizes the long-term community benefit, leading to its optimal strategy being Ally / Ally
capitalism fosters war, not out of accident, but because the system itself is rooted in war - economically
