Last night's episode of #CountingSheep, which is what I will decide I am going to name my in-bed attempts to do a calculation in my head until I fall asleep, I decided to try to re-derive a pen-and-paper algorithm for approximating square roots in base 10.

@justic3storm Hehehe, it's fun! And it's a good way to get my mind to think about other things to make me fall asleep.

@JordiGH that’s actually a form of meditation. Called noting.

Can not die from lack of sleep (just go a little crazy) 🖖🏽

I’ll just force myself up and accept a tired day and awkward interactions with people because I can’t speak. Lol

@justic3storm I thought people did in fact die from extreme lack of sleep, but it's very rare for anyone to achieve that level of sleeplessness.

So how do you count sheep?

@justic3storm Hm, I'm looking at a description of "noting" and I guess it's kind of similar? What I have to keep repeating as I do mental calculations is each of the "registers" for the intermediate values in my calculation.

Value so far is 22, value so far is 22, remainder is 160, remainder is 160, value is 22, remainder is 160...

That's what goes on in my head until I fall asleep.
