@slooploon why do you care who wrote the fiction you read? choose books because they are entertaining and well-written - if you do that, you'll naturally get a mix of authors from different backgrounds.

It would be discriminatory to say "I only want to read books written by cis white men", so does it not follow that it is also discriminatory to do exactly the opposite?

@albino no, because white cis men are the most privileged group on this planet and, as a direct result of this, they are also the group with the biggest asshole ratio on this planet. systemic oppresion & systemic privilege are not symmetric & we are not living in a vacuum.

@slooploon Existing privilege doesn't stop them being discriminated against, and doesn't stop this discrimination being genuinely harmful to members of the group.

And anyway, it's senseless to limit your reading opportunities by something as trivial as the author's sexual orientation, race or gender. Just read what you enjoy!
