I have not seen season 3 of Star Trek: Picard, which comes out this week. I was not a fan of seasons 1 or 2 (I didn’t get through 2). I was momentarily excited to hear they’re bringing back the whole TNG crew (the characters they didn’t kill off), but it passed very quickly.
So I don’t know it won’t be good. My money’s on no but whatever.
But for the love of god, stop saying “this is the sendoff thr TNG crew deserved but never got.”
YES THEY DID.
Star Trek: The Next Generation had one of TV’s greatest finales, “All Good Things.” It’s up there with MASH, Six Feet Under, and Breaking Bad. It has everything. It’s a mind-bending, thinky-but-fun time travel story that manages to include almost every major character. (Tasha Yar shows up!) Picard learns something about human connection, via Q shenanigans, and we end on him sitting down to join the officers’ poker game for the first time. It’s a brilliant sendoff. It rivals the original crew’s great sendoff, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. It’s great in a lot of the same ways.
Stop telling me they never got the sendoff they deserved. Few TV casts get that good a sendoff.
And I’m sorry, but you are not going to top it with a season of a wobbly TV show made 30 years later after you killed off Data and Q and nerfed the Borg.
*pant pant*
Okay? Okay.
