i think enshittification as defined by doctorow, meaning "they made the product worse than it used to be, for profit reasons", is a useful word. but my problem is that people are now using it to mean "it's worse now" with no further qualification and i find that really annoying. the enshittification of my back pain over the years

@codl from my experience (even with that very word), it turns out some people don't tend to like being told what words mean, either, if the meaning is any more specific than what they've already internalized it to be.
shit i usually expect when talking e.g. religion with people, not the fuckin dictionary definition 🙄
