Realising that one of the big reasons I really, really hate 'ai' e.g. llm's, image generators, etc, is because the jobs they do are by a large margin all things that are the most accessible source of income for the disabled. For a large group of people, me included, most manual labor is just not possible, but writing and illustrating and designing are. These slop generators create content that you could have commissioned from someone who needed the money and it's frustrating
Need a book cover? I know scores of disabled artists looking for a gig. I know disabled writers just raring to help someone get words on a page. Llm's aren't going to replace construction workers or grocery packets or taxi drivers, but they're going to rob us disabled people of all the little jobs that can be done at home, on a computer, between pain spikes and chronic fatigue episodes and migraines.
This rant brought to you by people using LLM's to generate alt text in images, a double whammy of screwing over blind users who need accurate, well written descriptions, not word vomit, and people with other disabilities who you could have commissioned to write descriptions, if you're going to willingly screw over disabled users, why even pretend and bother with image descriptions at all
