like, today, there is a bit of an argument that bolt action snipers are still capable of a higher accuracy ceiling if built, tuned and maintained to extremely high standards, but if you're just finding a sniper rifle on the greasy floor of some doom wad esque sci fi fortress, odds are a semi automatic rifle is going to be 100% as effective and accurate as any bolt action, and easier to use too. and the main reason pump action shotguns still exist is for civilians. that's it
there are shotguns out there, shotguns more than 30 years old, built on the AK rifle platform that can take drums that hold more than 30 12 gauge shells and be modified to use a full auto AK rifle trigger group. we had the tech in the 80s to make a shotgun that can dump 30 rounds in 5 seconds, although we haven't invented wrists and shoulders that can match that yet
