@garfiald @anthonydavis i guess the issue with this is that if someone doesn't have the "lens" of experiencing the decline of a large community into a popularity contest then it's hard to see that the costs outweigh the benefits

but, i mean - one look at twitter should be enough to show that account followers is a terrible metric to build a community around

communities should be built on all of their members, not just a few people that everyone likes lol

i have the questionable habit of making minor typos and writing errors in toots that i would never make anywhere else

and every time... i'm like... do i fix it? or... nah...

usa culture

it's a shame that so many Americans are so culturally myopic

there's an entire world out there of beauty, experiences, tastes, sounds, and experiences that so many Americans don't even care to begin to imagine

i can't imagine life like that; being both ignorant of the broader world and prideful in that ignorance

was watching a Korean horror movie earlier today with @Chel and it basically turned out to be amazing

which was interesting, since the reviews were middling at best

i have to say that we've found most non-Hollywood movies to be significantly better than critic opinion or user reviews would suggest

basically, there's a bias against non-Hollywood movies at a lot of review sites, which is sad

It’s too early to be this tired :blobsleepless:

i was watching stranger things on netflix and I kinda felt like the upside down wiould actually be a fun place to live in, aside from the carnivorous life forms and toxic atmosphere

musing on socialism

one of the issues with capitalism is that altruistic sounding things like housing the homeless, researching cures for disease, etc. all have a profit-seeking lens

even non-for-profits are fundamentally still profit seeking - they have to pay executives/staff a competitive salary

this leads to a lot of societal issues not being solved because there were more profitable things to do instead.

socialism solves this issue by making altruism structurally easy

follow my partner @Scarly 'cause she's awesome, deserves attention, appreciation, and uh... cookies? yeah, that works. :paw_fx90_thumbs_up:

In conclusion: when you post about not liking kinks, or make fun of them, or are mean to people because of who they are, or what they are, or what they're into, you're telling everyone else more about you. That you would absolutely do this to them. That you're mean to other people without cause.
So either grow up, or stay out of it. It's not your business.
And since it's not your business, it's *not your business.*

After a full nights sleep, I am happy to report that I am no longer Ded, and in fact seem to be relatively alive and awake. :paw_fx90_thumbs_up:

I am well and thoroughly trashed today.

I keep throwing words into this thing and then deleting them almost immediately after without posting. I got nothing today, I think. 🤷

Tiny bit bummed that the Red Velvet NA tour isn't taking them through Seattle.

Would absolutely jump at the chance to see them in concert, but running all the way out to LA, getting a hotel, etc, is just... not even remotely in the cards. 🤷

Could really do with having something cute, warm, and fuzzy right about now. :blobnomouth:
