you know, there's this entire base of assumed knowledge that people with computer science backgrounds have. jargon, acronyms, shared history, experiences working in tech
i sometimes feel like a fish out of water. i'm self taught, don't know the "right way" to do things always, am a coding loner (not by choice, just don't connect well with tech people), and never worked in tech
someone should make me a translator so i can avoid sounding like i don't know anything lol
teach me to talk fancy
good morning
this last night my dreams were of secret agents working through complex missions in hostile territories with their lives on the line, all for determining the most effective and community friendly ways to rework the Portland transit system
it was... interesting? working for Trimet was apparently dangerous af.
listening to @Scarly rattle on, infinitely and incessantly about every facet of the ActivityPub spec is slowly driving me to madness
bby I luv u but u gotta stahp
i would be fired from any real programming job within a day or so
my comments are silly, my commit messages are questionable at best, and my processes are probably just innately flawed from the perspective of the latest Agile™ nonsense
still, tho, everything i make tends to work well for years and years without catastrophic issue
i suppose that means i must be doing something right
@Chel though given that my parents routinely beat Scarly and I at -any- competitive board game we introduce them to...
I guess I should be surprised? They’re fucking brutal at dominion and ticket to ride
I wish I had a couple Chel clones to live with, so that we could distribute the burden of spoon consuming activities and be collectively better off as a result. Not to mention added benefits, such as cooking together, having more players for Mario Kart/etc, being able to make ou— I mean, being able to watch cute cat videos together, and probably drive Scarily absolutely up a wall with our collective antics
