In other news, I have a car service appointment in 45min and I have no idea how that's going to go because it's too far away to walk home, their shuttle service is suspended due to covid, and their waiting room may be closed (and I'm not very enthusiastic about sitting in it to begin with) so I might just be stuck walking around on the street until the work's done :V
Well that was about as bad as I expected. Rolled up to the mechanic, there were two signs: one said they were understaffed due to covid and to please be understanding and one saying they were committed to customer safety and would wear gloves and masks all through interactions with customers or their vehicles.
I get left waiting for 15min past my appointment time. Manager comes out to take in my car, stands in front of the sign, not wearing a mask. Makes physical contact with me, then starts to get the paperwork together.
While I'm waiting a salesman from the attached dealership walks over, tries to shake my hand, and tells me since I've had my vehicle as long as I have, I'm qualified for DEALS. I wilted him with a "Who shakes hands in 2021?" stare and he just kind of wandered off.
No one was in the waiting room so I chose to risk being there, sat in a far corner. Half way into the wait one of the cleaning folks in the dealership walks over to take a call and sits down exactly 6 feet from me, with no mask on, and talks on the phone. I moved.
Somewhere around here a DIFFERENT salesperson comes by and goes "Has anyone talked to you about our trade-in deals yet?" ... I decided to just sit on the curb and leech wifi.
