I can't believe I've only just realised you can SSH into local machines by using ssh username@hostname.local, rather than entering the local IP address each time...

So, do I farce around with setting up OpenMediaVault, or do I just be lazy and set up a Samba share on my existing Debian install?

I should really set up a dynamic DNS of some sort. Or at the very least have the Pi check http://icanhazip.com once or twice a day then email me if/when it changes.

Weh. The IP address my VPN runs on has changed; and the only port I have open is for the VPN, not SSH.

I can't SSH into the server (or into the Pi, /then/ to the server) to change the VPN config files... damnit.

...and nobody at home knows how to open ports, so I can't really ask them to do it.
