As the COP29 climate meeting reaches its end, it should not come as a surprise that yet another COP is failing. The current draft is a complete disaster. But even if our expectations are close to non-existent, we must never find ourselves reacting to these continuous betrayals with anything but rage.

The people in power are again about to agree to a death sentence to the countless people whose lives have been or will be ruined by the climate crisis. The current text is full of false solutions and empty promises. The money from the Global North countries needed to pay back their climate debt is still nowhere to be seen. The host country, Azerbaijan, is a repressive and authoritarian petrostate that has committed ethnic cleansing and genocidal acts towards Armenians. Civil society present at COP29 are being silenced, yet continue fighting and pushing negotiators towards the bare minimum.

All of this while oppression, inequalities, wars, and genocides all over the world continue to intensify. Those in power are worsening the destabilization and destruction of our life-supporting ecosystems. We are on track to experience the hottest year ever recorded, with global greenhouse gases reaching an all-time high just last year.

It is clear that the current systems are not working in our favor. The COP processes aren’t just failing us, they are part of a larger system built on injustice and designed to sacrifice current and future generations for the opportunity of a few to keep making unimaginable profits and to continue exploiting planet and people.

With every negotiation, with every speech made by a world leader, and with every agreement they sign, it becomes clear that it is up to us as a global collective to take the action we so desperately need, and to show where the leadership truly lies. They are not going to do it for us, as this COP29 yet again proves.

Ich möchte fur einige tolle Menschen ab circa Januar 2025 die #DungeonsandDragons Kampagne "Rime of the Frostmaiden" leiten - offline* und am Tisch, so wie es unsere Großeltern taten.

In "Rime of the Frostmaiden" geht es darum in einer Welt des ewigen Winters kleine, im eisigen Wind flackernde Lichter von Gemeinschaft und Zusammenhalt zu bewahren, ohne dabei die gnadenlose Kälte in sein eigenes Herz vordringen zu lassen.

Es wäre gut wenn ihr in #Oerlinghausen #Detmold #Lage #Bielefeld oder Gemarkungen in dieser Gegend wohnt, und auch ohne ÖPNV mobil seid.

Als Spielintervalle würde ich alle vierzehn Tage anpeilen, damit es dann alle vier Wochen klappt, ihr kennt das.

Gespielt wird mit den aktuellen 2024er #DnD Regeln, wobei Hardcore-Regelfüchs*innen bei mir eher nicht glücklich werden, das sei vorausgeschickt.

Allgemein hab ich Bock auf eine gewisse Wholesomeness, bringt euch Hausschuhe mit, ich mache Kamin und Pizzaofen an...so ungefähr das Level.
Dass sich dementsprechend Arschgeigen wie Nazis, TERFS und Männer die #TTRPG nutzen um ihre toxischen Männlichkeitsfantasien auszuleben gar nicht erst melden brauchen sei hiermit dennoch schriftlich festgehalten.

Ob ihr Anfänger*innen oder Veteran*innen seid ist mir Wurst, ich habe alle zum Spielen benötigten Dinge für mich und für euch parat.
Wichtig wäre mir allerdings ein gewisses commitment: Nichts ist frustrierender als sich am Ende nur alle drei Monate zu treffen, und Niemand weiß mehr worum es beim letzten Mal ging.
Ausnahmsweise mal online spielen ist aber ebensowenig problematisch wie mal keine Zeit haben.

Den Rest würde ich gerne in einer obligatorischen Session Zero klären, bei der wir gemeinsam den Rahmen unserer Kampagne abstecken.

I have said this before, but it's worth repeating: in times of crisis it is easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of outrages that call for your attention. Pick your issue. Pick the corner of the world that you are going to defend and fight for that. If you try to fight everything all the time, you will burn out real fast.

Remember, posts are called toots here, likes are called florps, retweeting is technically a cross-account posting exploit that they can't fix because we're using it, and our version of Grok is called Garfiald.

There's no algorithm here! Literally none. There is no computer code behind Mastodon. Each http response is typed out by hand by your server admin in real time. Sometimes this means you won't see replies from other servers, but that's ok, other servers are full of losers anyway.

People here make a point of using alt text — if you can't find an image you want to post, just post a picture of your cat and describe the correct image in the alt text. Nobody will notice, or at least nobody will mind.

The first thing you should do is make a pinned toot with your pronouns, political affiliation, and favourite Linux distribution. Cisgender people are welcome on Mastodon but aren't officially supported, so some features may not work properly.

But most importantly, have fun! Users found to be not having fun will be given a written warning in the first instance and banned if the behaviour continues.

My Fediverse Advice:

* Follow more people. No, even more people than that. Basically, if you find a real person and their posts are good follow 'em
* If you get a good reply to a post boost it. If you make a good reply to a post boost it. Replies are not visible in the feed unless you do this. As long as the post is an OK start to a conversation or interesting boost it.
* Write thoughtful replies. And if you put effort into a reply boost it or probably only the people tagged will see it.
