@Siphonay@octodon.social They're claiming it's far more legitimately communist/socialist than it is, and the authoritarianism is justified because US aggression and basically dismissing the universally horrifying accounts of actual North Korean Expats.

@Siphonay@octodon.social Oh, god, been dealing with a fucking Tankie defending North Korea for a while on Tumblr, and they took it to messages so they could be as abrasive and bullying as they felt like without looking bad. (They claim other reasons, but... yeah.)

... I have no idea how to start researching #French history. Most concerned with Francia in the Early Middle Ages -- pariicularly from 768-814 -- the Avignon Papacy, and the French Revolution. Is for character stuffs. (Also gonna look into The Matter of France, but I can probably find a translation or something there.)

If we don’t do that this time, if we don’t change the system rather than the person sitting at the head of it, the next would-be fascist to get into office will be even worse.

Hold their feet to the fire on this – we need to reduce executive power. We need to hold those who have committed crimes in this administration or knowingly abetted such accountable. We need to switch to a fairer, more democratic voting system.

Trump would not have been nearly as much of a danger if he and Congressional Democrats had set precedent by holding the Bush Administration and those who aided and abetted its crimes accountable. And he wouldn’t have even gotten in if we had dismantled or limited the Electoral College after the unjust Bush debacle where it led to him being handed the Presidency by the Supreme Court.
