asking for help, housing, please boost

Hi, firstly we're an ADHD disabled white trans plural system in Baltimore county MD. We have a cat and are stuck under our abusive parents.

We need someone to take us in because we can't really get out any other way, we can't drive or work. Living here has been extremely detrimental to our mental health, and we really needed out a long time ago.
It's rough rn but if you can have us please, heck even if you need another person to drive us there.

Long thoughts on boycotting fictional franchises as activism

I think the idea that authors have the right to invalidate their fan's experience of their work is harmful to the process of identity formation and normalizes exclusive claims of intellectual property which are at odds to both how ideas are formed as a culture and instrumental to class oppression in the form of propagandizing popular media for the ends of an imposed elite culture (hegemony). The radical impulse to me is culture jamming, or radical re-appropriation and assertion of counter-narrative interpretation. However, the institutions of intellectual property are disproportionately backed by violence in the form of censorship, both literal and culturally imposed restraint of speech (e.g. fear of a YouTube strike).

This leads the only risk free avenue of dissent the boycott. However, this does the harm of normalization. The performative counter-narrative act is a co-opted endorsement of the moral legitimacy that leads to the very cultural influence that necessitates the boycott. It normalizes the idea that we hold no say in the stories we use to inform our process of self-identity. It cordons off chunks of our soul-stuff for billionaire media conglomerates to revoke on a problematic whim.

re: [Thread] Youtube link, discussion on cryptofascism

However, things start to go wrong, when you realize that a lot of the voices he's been amplifying are the voices of popular Youtubers, a lot of whom are part of the cryptofascist skeptic community. Then, there's the reminiscing of the old bygone era of the internet, with the implicit desire to enact a palingenesis of the online culture circa 2007. Calling it the "golden age" of the internet.

Here's the truth, there are no golden ages of the internet, every era has its own set of issues and problems, and I can tell you that 13 years ago, the internet was a toxic cesspit of neoliberalism, where online american jingoism started becoming popular, not to mention all the normalized homophobia, transphobia, misogyny and ableism running rampant.

I've had some Mastodon instances try to force me to log into them when attempting to like or retoot (or whatever you call it) instead of opening up the "choose an instance" dialogue.
