Slowly starting out on a draft about unused/underused Nova the Squirrel features/mechanics and things that turned out differently than I originally planned, and there's a lot so it's going to take awhile to organize.

Maybe I should write about the unused content in Nova the Squirrel, since that sounds more fun than actually taking anything out. A retrospective on my original vision for things that ended up going different.

I'm putting together a list of fictional characters categorized by who I would kiss, who I would kiss a lot, and who I would just hug.

Trump?

Someone just followed me on Twitter with no tweets and a very bizarre, very small following list that's just homebrew related people and then Trump and Ann Coulter for some reason.

It's getting cold enough here that it's pretty hard to get out of bed because it's just so warm.

Fixed the direction of the shading to make a bit more sense based on feedback.

Don't 100% know what I'm doing with shading but I'm going to attempt it and I guess I'll just have to be unafraid to make mistakes and improve.

Probably should try to draw more than just myself too. Back when I was practicing NES graphics I doodled a bunch of friends and it was fun trying to reduce other friends' characters down to something that works in 3 colors.

Playing with more colors and bigger sprites, and taking baby-steps towards SNES-style stuff. NES is a lot easier with its harsher limitations.

I want to learn how to draw SNES-level pixel art well. Guess I should practice using more colors and drawing bigger.

For some reason I like leaving redstone videos on in the background and I think I just like listening to funny terminology you don't hear anywhere else being said over and over.

remember when i reduced some CD-i Zelda footage to 7 fps then interpolated it back to 60 fps? neither did i until just now. well see ya

I looked at how Bust-A-Move for SNES draws its playfield, and from what I can tell, the playfield is a software-rendered rectangle of 256-color tiles. That sounds like it would eat up a lot of space, especially in two-player mode, so that probably explains why it uses the smaller 4-color tiles for the background (to make everything fit).

Resizable, draggable window test in JavaScript, for eventual use in Tilemap Town. Still got a few problems to fix but seems mostly fine with relatively little code.

As a test I went and tried the Nova pixel art I did awhile ago with a jumping animation. Also added boobs since Nova's supposed to have them, though not confident I'm doing it right? I don't have any intuition for that.

Even for this simple thing I'm finding out that GIMP's really not the tool for the job for pixel art animation and I can see why people go for things like Aseprite.

I kinda want to get one of those Christmas catalogs and circle stuff just for the nostalgia even though I'll probably not buy anything from them.

I like just sitting down with a cookbook (or similar) with lots of pictures and just sorta reliving what it was like poring over books and just soaking up info as a kid without a computer.

Amazing, with this newfangled technology "the coat" it's actually comfortable to go outside.

I bet Nova wouldn't need one though because platformer characters almost never bundle up for snow/ice levels.
