novasquirrel.itch.io/nova-the- I pushed out some changes I'd been sitting on, fixing stuff that'd been bugging me.

I guess I do need to actually commit to a final version eventually for a cartridge release. Maybe aim for the anniversary of the game's full release last June?

Food

I made an old favorite which is effectively a baked cheeseburger. It involves making a ketchup+onion+salt+pepper mixture which is then baked with the meat and it's way better than any burger I have grilled.

Oh snap it's 64 degrees and the weather feels appropriate for April for once

Nova Storm boosted

Spent today creating a few animation sets for one of the characters of the pixel stuff I showed a good while ago. I now have 2 idles, run, jump, swing as well as 3 others tangential ones.

It's a bit much to all show here I think, what with 8 sets, but I'm hoping with that I can maybe finally start to dabble & experiment a little with game maker. Will need a lot more work done before it'll turn into an actual game, but I got enough to maybe build some confidence with.

Recoloring some Nova the Squirrel tiles to see how they look. Probably need a more specialized palette with more shades per-color then DB32 has but I think it's nice so far.

Once upon a time in elementary school there was a day in music class where you could bring in a CD and I just straight-up brought in a demoscene track hahaha. It was fr-018 and I remember people liking it.

Tweaked the walk animation I'm working on a little bit to have more sleeve movement and to reduce the amount of time kept at the idle state.

At work I've been needing to fill time a lot, so I've been reimplementing MUF in Java and declaring it Java training. Mine has some differences including arrays being passed by reference instead of by value. I don't know what my end goal is haha.

It was really bugging me that there was no way to tell what's in a level slot in Nova the Squirrel without opening it first, so I added the ability to choose a name when saving to a slot.

I've got a picture in my mind of what a perfect "home community" would look like and I definitely think it would be somewhere that emphasized cuteness; I did that myself when I attempted to make that sort of community on Telegram, though private. Fluffy, adorable, cheery nice things.

I feel like I should go out and search for art communities based around cute wholesome things and lightheartedness, because bonding over making stuff sounds like a good idea

I ordered a SNES flashcart so now I can experience the magical feeling of code I wrote running on the real thing. It's going to take awhile to arrive though because of international shipping.

Going to be cool playing Kirby Super Star too.

I really want to get a picture of Maffi now that I have my first paycheck and I'm going to have to figure out what artist to go with. If anyone has any recommendations for that I'd love to hear them.

One thing I need to figure out is what her hair style should look like. I messed around with a fursona maker to decide colors and such, and I think what I picked out looks alright but it'd be nice to have a second opinion. (Also included my own attempts at copying it)

forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.ph the initial release of the SNES sequel to what I consider to be the best NES emulator (especially for development) was released today! Not a prank, it's been in development for weeks.

Food

"Serving suggestions" are wild and I can tell that usually they're not anything like how you'd reasonably serve the product. Serve pineapple slices stacked on top of each other with no plate and with whole pineapples nearby so your guests know what they're eating, if it was unclear.

The fact that Hamtaro suddenly loses all the words he's gathered in Ham-Hams Unite when his dictionary gets ruined implies he had been constantly referring to the dictionary to navigate any conversations and never actually learned the words.

I finished Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! and I started on Ham-Ham Heartbreak. I actually never played this one but a lot of friends really like it.

I've gotta figure out if anyone will be able to hang out with me and room with me at IndyFurCon or if it'd just be another year where I'd just go to panels alone. If that's the case I might skip it in favor of another one I can guarantee hanging out at.

Turns out staying up late during the weekend as a reward to myself doesn't work super well because not giving myself enough sleep during the week catches up with me :p
