I saw this story, and had to share:
Last saturday, in Porto, there was a pride parade going down the street, and this old man was standing there, by his front door, waving the portuguese flag. Most people on the parade probably thought the same: old person waving the national flag. He's probably protesting against the parade, he's a nationalist of some sort.
Then the old man called for that person to come near him. The whole parade stopped. Everyone just.. stopped moving. They didn't know what to expect, and most expected the worst, and that person decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, and approached the old man, and then... they traded flags. He hugged the person, and then he waved the pride flag happily. everyone cheered him.

Britainβs last coal fired power station has received its last delivery of coal in anticipation of closure at the end of September. As we look ahead to that historic milestone it is fascinating to look back at how quickly coal has departed the scene. Ten years ago it was still the dominant source of electrical power. More efficient gas burning power squeezed it out, with just over half the greenhouse gas emissions. Now, already, gas burning is being squeezed out too.
Hey #Seattle, Scarecrow Video is trying to raise 1.8 million dollars to stay open. I'd been meaning to visit, and they're amazing! Consider supporting them with a membership if you like physical media. (They also rent by mail.)
Happy Disability Pride Month, friend!!
Just a few things to remember:
Disabilities come in MANY flavors.
Disabled folks sometimes deal with many conditions at once.
Not all disabilities are visible.
Not all disabilities are consistent. Some days can be better than others. It doesn't mean we're "less disabled" on those days.
Some disabled folks can still work a job. Others can't. We're worthy of love and basic necessities being met regardless because we are living beings.
Disabled people/creatures deserve to feel amazing about themselves. Be sure to reach out to your disabled friends and let them know you're thinking about them!!
Have a great July!!
