tl;dr: In a world where companies will fleece you, scammers will steal your grandmother's savings, your chat program algorithmically charts your gender, and your car's manufacturer sells analytics about the way you drive without a second thought:
The only thing that matters is kindness, and we could all do with a lot more of it.
Also, I'm going to go have a drink or two now. Holy hell, that little rant has been building up for a while now.
I just downloaded Sunset Solitaire, a #pico8 solitaire game by @johanpeitz and it's really fun.
It's 20% off for its launch. https://johanpeitz.itch.io/sunset-solitaire
Don't use color alone to convey information. Marking required fields by only using colored labels won't help people who use screen readers or who can't distinguish colors. If using color, also add text like asterisks and/or "required."
.Your Fat friends don't have to make you feel secure about your body.
.Disabled people aren't required to be "inspirational"
.And ffs People of Color don't have to make you feel better about your racist jokes and thoughts.
.LGBTQ+ People don't have to fit into your stereotype of them, to make you feel comfortable
.Women don't have to be maternal.
.Men don't have to be "strong and masculine".
.Older people don't have to be treated like children or be "sweet".
Feel free to add your own mini rant.
Just a reminder that friends don't let friend use the Brave browser
Dark mode isn't the default in OSes for a reason folks. It's one of those accessibility aids that's grossly inaccessible to a ton of people.
Respect the OS settings if you're making an app!!!!!!!
If a user has chosen light mode and reduced motion, don't fucking launch with dark mode and swishy animations!
Don't be an asshole!
Too many devs are being absolute assholes!
Really sad to hear of Lynn Conway's passing. She made key advances in CPU design that ended up being an influence on everything we use today. http://www.myhusbandbetty.com/wordPressNEW/2024/06/11/lynn-conway-january-2-1938-june-9-2024/
