Please don't ask children to 'get into pairs (or groups)', without grouping them yourself or setting ground rules to include everyone.
This is traumatising each time, to the rejected or invisible children who get left out.

January 1, 2025: we will set cohost.org to redirect to the wayback machine to prevent link rot. this is something we will be paying for out of pocket since ASSC will no longer be an operating concern, but it’s max $100 per year total so it’s fine.I appreciate this, and wish more websites would make such arrangements before shutting down.

This is actually the OPPOSITE of doomposting but:
Don't let Cohost make you think that better things aren't possible online. Cohost actually had a better conversion rate than most websites by FAR. People WERE in fact willing to pay for a site that doesn't try to trick them into watching ads or engaging for clicks. They just had a poor business plan. But I've seen posts like "guess nobody's willing to pay to not be the product..." and that's not what happened here at all, people were in fact willing to pay, heck some people were buying extra subscriptions (which functionally did nothing) just to pay MORE.

A few years ago we were walking in the park and she was talking about wanting to make a specific kind of game but none of the visual novel engines around were good for it, so I told her I could make a "quick parser". Quickly decided to make it in a way that could be reused in other games and open source, and years later that engine is what you know now, but this game is where it all started
