In other news, I made meat loaf, and I feel very domestic.

I need an instant read thermometerrrrrrrr
or some skewers
or both
so I don't keep looking at food and going "uhhhh how do I tell if its done"

I don't expect to live in an amazing place as my first house, but I also don't think it's fair I have to spend tens of thousands fixing up shit that was caused by dodgy contractors and cheap work.

I don't think I want anything that unreasonable. I was just trying to make a home so I could have my little family.

So this shit with the plumbing/sewage is just another kick in the fucking teeth.

Oh, and I have no income. I'm not working. I'm a stay at home mum, we're on one income, and we're not really managing very well.

So this new thing, it's just. Just. Fucking.
So fucking great.

Aaaand as icing on the cake, if you complain about it, you get the "millennials are so entitled" shit for wanting your house to just, like, not be a hazard.

Basically, every single thing they did, they did as cheaply as possible. Their contractors cut corners, did things badly. Things like tiling over the waste drain in the laundry, to save a buck or two. Not installing the dishwasher properly so it leaks into the cupboard AND has a huge hole to let mice in. And my petty favourite: putting the ends of the towel rail too far apart so the rail doesn't stay…

…this shit has cost us, no joke, at least $15,000+ so far

So bitter and depressed about the things the previous owner of this house did when they prepared it for sale. They have screwed us over so many times.

Have just found out they didn't dig the trench for the drain/sewage right, so there's not enough fall, which is why our pipes get blocked so much. Minimum $5,000 to fix.

Cold brew coffee is the only thing keeping me going.

Whining

Having a baby is so fucking exhausting, I don't stop cleaning or cooking or tidying or feeding or anything and I just want to sleep but he wakes several times a night and I just want to play a computer game but who gets time for that even

this is probably why I have PPD

I should try to make the cheese and spinach muffins next time. Even though cheese is a little bit naughty for babies (cheese is high in sodium, and babies kidneys can't process sodium very much).

Carrot muffins are very good. No sugar, either. Just flour, butter, eggs, carrots, and a splash of milk. I'd like to kid myself that they are good for me, but they are probably… not?

Eating all the things I made for the baby

My eyelids are heavy and eye strain is kicking in, but it's too hard to just stand up and head to bed…

Yes! YES! My game of Stardew Valley is still here!!

I don't know how we got to it, but we seem to be watching a compilation of ads and TV intros from the 60s and there's just so much low effort shit here

Man, there have been a lot of shitty cartoons.

Ah nothing like a bit of out-of-nowhere water hammer in the evening to really freak out the entire family

but especially the baby and the cat

Started feeling a little sick, even though I'm inside, with excellent air conditioning. I think it's slight dehydration though. Heat, air conditioning, and nursing a baby all dry you out…

It got to 44.1°C today.
Kill me.
Just like, bomb the entire city, so we can all die.
