does anybody else have trouble functioning in society because of the ephemeral and “made up” nature of it all?

Most days yes. Then I look to the birds or trees as a reminder that life still happens and is simple. It's the human drama that's a distraction from how joyous life could be.

@TheIronFox I did in high school. Lasted several years. I somehow managed to stop living for society and focused on what I wanted.
@TheIronFox This is why people make and/or join communes, so they can make up their own arbitrary rules.
