@tobestewart Lightbulb moments are always an opportunity to step outside the cycle or the mindset we’ve become aware of. It can take several moments of realization to finally take that opportunity. Sometimes people step out for a moment, then go back in again. Sometimes they take a large step out and make a big change — or they might take a smaller step.
I don’t know if there’s an average number of times before someone breaks out for a big change.
when ppl point out that Communist nation-states like the USSR have committed atrocities
and the Communists reply that the USA has plenty of their own
it is not to defend the Communist state by tu quoque fallacy
it is to point out that the atrocity did not arise out of the Communism
but the nation-stateness
@MetalheadDana extra points if she yelled it like a video game announcer
#ADHD life feels like needing a list somewhere of “Types of Media That Make Me Feel Alive,” so that when I feel like creating something I can remember the tropes and styles that I want to see more of in the world.
Otherwise I end up sitting here like “I want to create but WHAT??,” until I encounter one of those tropes/styles again and it’s like “ooh right”
That sense of object impermanence extends even to stuff I enjoy, apparently.
My husband is watching #Severance in the other room, and as soon as I heard the theme music my brain perked up like OOH BOY because I enjoy that show a totally normal amount
I broke a mandolin string for the first time tonight.
Yeah, you could say I’m pretty hardcore 🤘🏻
“But Ronen, that’s an incredibly common experience”
Common, sure, but not universal. There are absolutely people who thrive under the attention of others. If I were one of them, I think my efforts in music and performance could have gotten a lot farther before now.
@mym a monastery of himbos would be amazing, but no, he’s just a monk who happens to be a low int strong boy
@mym Hell yeah!
I’m playing a tabaxi monk whose gender according to his character sheet is “himbo.”
“The rules of bodily decorum usually imply that the cosmos depends on the shame we feel about our bodies. But sometimes that lesson is a lie, and a cunningly self-protecting one at that, for to question it requires self-exposure and loss of face, and who would want that? Well, trickster would, as would all those who find they cannot fashion a place for themselves in the world until they have spoken against collective silence.” - Lewis Hide, Trickster Makes This World
