....frick. this study
it just mentioned that autistic folx are better at assessing "anthropomorphic stimuli" than human stimuli i'm
r u friggin telling me that my being autistic means it's easier for me to socialise with furries than with human people bc like. the h*ck is this callout post omgods
@00dani i'm not saying it doesn't make sense—quite the opposite, in fact—but i didn't expect a gorram research paper to be a callout post for me here
@autistikai
Could you please link the study? I would be interested in reading it!
@certifiedperson the study itself wasn't all that compelling. this was the only point of interest in it, and it was referencing a separate study that i don't have
(the rest was just dumbed-down and somewhat ableist explanations of things any autistic folx could tell you)
the referenced study is cited as:
Atherton, G., & Cross, L. (2018). Seeing More Than Human: Autism and Anthropomorphic Theory of Mind.
autism research, replies
@autistikai That's all good, and thank you for the ref'd study!
Turns out that study is freely available here, if you want:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/324566132_Seeing_More_Than_Human_Autism_and_Anthropomorphic_Theory_of_Mind
Idk what sort of ableist bullpoopery it might contain, but also it does look quite intriguing, and I look forward to reading it!
@autistikai i mean.... that does make a lot of sense
