but you could also become a diplomat, or a freemason. or just call yourself esquire, since there isn't actually a law that says you can't
@BestGirlGrace personally i'm a traditionalist and will refer to myself as esquire only if i have my own coat of arms
that said, as i am terribly fond of horrible puns, i will refer to myself as esquire whenever i am in possession of a coat
