Sensitivity read/ask, Ace person

Would an asexual person be willing to bounce off a character idea with me? I finally decided to start writing that damn book I've been thinking off and on about for a few years, and there's a character idea that I want to try out but I'm not sure if it's a good one.

re: Sensitivity read/ask, Ace person

@Anarchist_Mallrat we can definitely take a look at it, though our availability's gonna be spotty for the next couple hours.

re: Sensitivity read/ask, Ace person

@autistikai so basically: the lead character is aroace, and later she talks to another character, revealing she uses sex as a form of self harm.

I never going to write a sex scene with her in it, nor will she end up with another character at the end. But that element is something I'm dodgy on. I still plan on having her be aroace even if that element bis removed.

Does that sound like a good idea? Or is it awful and shitty?

@Anarchist_Mallrat hm. it sounds awful in a way that fundamentally Makes Sense for a sex-repulsed person? like, this is a thing where like. it's a self-harm thing. there's not really a way to put it in without it feeling really bad. that doesn't make it wrong, just Super Unfun

so, the only potential issue we can see is just... if that's your only ace character? there might be some unfortunate connotations. the idea itself seems fine to us.
