no but actually one of the big things is that arthropods are the only major category of organisms that have a non-iron-based oxygen transportation molecule
also it might also explain why it's usually hard to actually hurt the fae, if they have exoskeleton
and frankly the metamorphic analogies of shedding one's shell should not be overlooked
